Somnium Art print
In the Somnium series, I explored how the feeling of weightlessness could be expressed through visual means. I created abstract landscapes that could be situated in zero-gravity places in outer space and microbiological environments. In the execution, I investigated how the objects floating in the works could simultaneously appear to be descending, ascending, expanding, or contracting.
The series name Somnium comes from the title of a book written by the astronomer Johannes Kepler. Kepler's Somnium contains a detailed fictional description of what Earth might look like when viewed from the Moon. The work is considered one of the earliest significant works of science fiction literature.
