Of light and transparency

While creating the "Herkkiä olentoja" art collection, I extensively studied both terrestrial and underwater chemical luminescence in animals and plants. It feels distant to me to think that my body could produce light, or that I wouldn't need pigment in my body and would be transparent. But in all its complexity, luminescence or transparency is no more special than, for example, the fact that we see, feel, or are able to think about things that don't actually exist.
